A future chili judge on our hands?

While eating Shrimp Fra Diavolo that he just burned his mouth with because we had just finished cooking it:

“Wow, that is not only hot but HOT! That kid is gonna be able to be a judge at a chili cook-off.”

I would have to say he’s probably right. I hear that spicy foods can give pregnant women heartburn or make their morning sickness worse…but so far Mackenzie hasn’t had any objections to the spicy stuff I’ve thrown at her. Of course she is only getting a watered down version of everything but we do eat quite a few things at home that are pretty heavily spiced with chili and other herbs (being that I’m a Texas girl).

Here in Germany they’ll probably consider her a fire-eater since foods here are not even remotely spicy compared to back in the U.S. Even jarred jalepenos are milder which makes no sense at all to me…but they are. It’s just more incentive to grow our own. No worries, though; Mackenzie’s first solid foods won’t be chili peppers!
