If you’ve got a group of friends that you meet up with on a regular basis, it can be fun to bring about changes now and then, and do something different when you all get together. For example, if you always go out for dinner and then on to a bar, you can end up feeling like it’s a bit routine – and it can also cost quite a bit to do that regularly.

Instead, why not make the girls’ nights out a girls’ night in? You’ll save some money by spending time at each other’s houses, and you’ll also have to be a bit more creative about how you entertain yourselves, which often makes it a lot more fun.

There are plenty of ways to have fun at home, and in a way, it’s easier to be yourselves when you’re just with your friends and not out in public. Below are a few suggestions of what you and your friends could get up to.

Host a bingo night

There’s no need to go down to the local bingo hall. Sites like Costa Bingo and BGO have plenty of games running round the clock. Get your friends to bring their laptops or mobile phones and all sign in to costabingo.com or a similar bingo site, and decide which games you’re going to play. With all of you playing the same games, you can have lots of fun, and who knows, one of you may come out the winner. There’s no need to keep quiet like you would in a land-based bingo hall and you don’t need to spend much on the games either. Most games only cost pennies to play, but there are always lots of free games to join in too. On the Costa site, there’s one weekly game on a Friday night called Costa Crazy which has a guaranteed jackpot of £10,000.

Have a pot luck dinner

It may feel like a throwback to the seventies, but hosting a pot luck dinner can be great fun. Make it simple by asking each guest to bring a starter, main course or dessert, and enjoy a little healthy competition in the cooking stakes. You needn’t do a critique of each other’s cooking like they do on those TV programmes – just enjoy each other’s food and company.

Sleepover

Be teenagers again – even if it’s just for one night! Get the kids and your partner packed off to the grandparents and have a sleepover with your favourite friends. Spend the evening doing beauty treatments and makeovers or just watching movies and eating pizza. Feel free of responsibilities of being a mum and a wife for a night and you’ll go back to normal life recharged!

However you spend a girls’ night in, it’ll certainly make a change to the usual venues of restaurants and bars, and you won’t spend as much either. Give it a try!
