Hemming drapes with ease
I could hardly believe it when the call came in on Monday evening. Our new windows were being delivered to the window installer on Tuesday morning, and they wanted to set up an appointment to deliver them to us and get started with the installation in the afternoon. Oh yes, there is a God! The current windows are paper thin, drafty and many of them are cracked…and while I love the idea of keeping as... read more

Time to give our walls some color
If you’ve ever had the privilege of visiting our home, you may notice that we have pure white walls…nearly everywhere. I say nearly because we did actually get brave and paint the walls in our guesthouse something other than white (namely a warm caramel color and something similar with a pinkish-hue in the bathroom out there). But after 5 years of owning this house, we have never gotten around... read more

Office thinking
Because we’re taking on new web design and consulting contracts here in Germany, I decided it was finally time to do something good for my home office. It’s been a bit of a mess for a while. And although I have managed to mostly keep my desk clean (which really is not all that easy when you have a 2.5 year old sitting at the desk next to you drawing and throwing paper all over the place as soon... read more

My easy Easter decor
Don’t forget: Today is the last day to enter the Made in Germany giveaway where over $1100 in prizes are up for grabs! Three winners will be chosen in the US and Europe! Low entries so far — especially in Europe I almost didn’t decorate for Easter this year. Partially because we’re going to be spending the holiday with Stefan’s parents in Bavaria…and partially because... read more

10 Ways to Reuse 3.5″ Floppy Disks
Warning: I am about to show you just how big of a geek I really am… Perhaps you’ are way more organized than us and you don’t hold on to stuff FOREVER. Maybe you don’t just have a drawer-full of old floppy disks lying around, which once held crucial information on them and were accepted by every computer in your house…but now only fit into the most dated and sluggish computers... read more

Flat screens changed it all
I was just doing some browsing last night for speaker stands and living room deco ideas since we love the new layout but our walls are still really bare…and I realized that flat screens really revolutionized the way a living room is laid out and the amount of space a tv stand takes up. We just did our living room makeover not too long ago, and our old TV stand is at least 4 feet deep and 6 feet wide.... read more

Build a PVC wreath for next Christmas
About a week before Christmas, I saw this incredible idea over on Today’s Nest for a fantastically cool Christmas wreath made from PVC pipes. Sam made it sound so simple that we thought, “Hey, let’s make two of those before Christmas arrives! One HUGE one for our barn doors and one for Stefan’s parents, the people who are impossible to buy for because they have... read more

Thank you very much for your interest and for any entries you may have submitted. This contest is now closed! Now before you get confused, no our little Mackenzie has not already started up her own business. Although that would be nice. Christmas-ify your walls
Several years ago, we bought ourselves a few art prints on canvas that we never thought about framing because we loved them just like they were. As it turns out, that was a very good thing for us this year, because we decided to take a new adventure into Christmas decorations and Christmas up our walls a bit. I read a great idea somewhere about taking old Christmas photos, putting them on scrapbooking... read more
