Custom greeting cards made easy
Stefan and I have talked about sending Christmas cards to our family and friends nearly every year that we’ve celebrated Christmas together. And some years we came very close. A few years we managed to write a Christmas letter and send it out via email…but that was back before everyone we knew was actually even online. And then there were other years when we managed to get cards but putting... read more

Woof Wednesday: The best Christmas ever
Hello my dear furry friends! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and got lots of fun and yummy treats from your family this year! Or were you a bad dog who only ended up with a lump of coal under the tree? To tell you the truth, I would be just as excited about the coal as a “real” present because I love eating charcoal. But that’s another story! I was apparently the best puppy of the... read more

My Christmas recap
This was by far the most hectic, unorganized Christmas I’ve had in a long while. Let me state now that one of my resolutions for 2010 is to have things together long before Christmas eve in 2010 so I’m not ready to pull my hair out when I should be enjoying this joyous holiday. We’ve actually started a Google Wave for ourselves so we can put together what we have, what we still need and... read more

A trip to the Frankfurt Christmas Market
Since the weather here has finally turned colder, we took the opportunity to finally go to the Christmas market in Frankfurt. We thought Mackenzie would enjoy the sights and sounds. But we didn’t count on the ENTIRE city of Frankfurt being down there at the same time. The Christmas market in Frankfurt is a pretty big event and one of the largest and prettiest in the area. Nestled right in the heart... read more

Stuffed & Roasted Farmer’s Duck
Our Christmas menu, like New Year’s, is always a bit up in the air at this time of year. Last year it was fairly easy for us to decide because we wanted a Thanksgiving-style dinner since we skipped our Thanksgiving dinner last November. We figured it would be a bit advantageous to assume I could cook all day when in fact I would probably be in labor or have just given birth to Mackenzie. This... read more

Twas the eve of the Holidays?
I don’t know if I’ve ever posted forwards on this blog, nor do I intend to make a habit of it…but this rewrite of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” that I was recently emailed really got me going this morning. I generally avoid the topics of politics and organized religion, but at this time of year, religion just has to come into the game. I’m not insisting that everyone... read more

Homemade chocolate liqueur
I’ve always loved the idea of making your own Christmas presents for your loved ones. They just become so much more special than anything you can buy. In fact, I think we need some rules in this house which state that at least one of the gifts we give to one another is hand made. In case you are wondering what to make for friends and family this year, why not try making some homemade chocolate... read more

Happy belated Grandparent’s Day!
Ok, Grandparent’s Day was actually on September 13th, but since I’m already playing catch up with my blog posts, I figured another late one is going to be all right. Maybe next year I’ll get to Grandparent’s Day before it passes (it’ll be on September 12th in 2010!) Grandparents play a special role in a child’s life and I have many fond memories from all of my... read more

Looks a bit American…
So my MIL & FIL were standing outside our house the other day and an older lady was walking by. She stopped to chat and mentioned that the decorations on the house looked really nice, “although they are a bit American. Not that that is a bad thing.” We got a good laugh from that comment and I guess I have to agree; but I don’t take any offense. American’s still usually make an... read more
