What are you doing for New Years?
Since Stefan and I got together over a DECADE ago (ack!), we have hosted quite a few New Year’s Eve parties at our house. Most of the time they were quite intimate and casual, and they seldom involved fireworks since Ayla seems to get more and more disturbed by them every year. The first New Year’s Eve with Mackenzie in the house, we did a fondue feast with little meatballs, chicken bites and... read more

Happy New Year
We just finished a nice family dinner of grilled cheese with tomato soup and watched a round of Dinner for One. It’s a must watch on New Year’s Eve here in Germany. It’s funny year after year and you’ll find it playing on at least one TV station every hour until midnight. “Oh I’ll kill that cat!” We’ll be putting Mackenzie to bed in a bit and hope that she... read more

Fondue feast
Shortly before Mack arrived, I found a special edition of Lecker magazine (literally meaning tasty) full of fantastic sounding Christmas and New Year’s recipes. Then when we discussed having fondue here over New Year’s, I recommended we try their recipes for dipping sauces since we’re really not experienced fondue makers. The sauces turned out to extremely tasty so I’m sharing... read more

It wasn’t all bad in 2008…and resolutions for 2009
This past year has been a rather wild ride for us, holding lots of surprises, both good and bad. We usually forget just how far we’ve come and how much has occurred so I thought a year in review was due. Best Moments of 2008 Ayla turned two and became the best dog ever, even without training We finally went back to Florida after 8 long years and saw friends we’d really been missing I made a... read more

The quiet arrival of 2009
Last night we had a quiet little New Years celebration at home with Mack and my mom. Dinner was a meat fondue with meatballs, filets of chicken and beef, and four dipping sauces. We had salad of lamb’s lettuce with champagne dressing and a baguette along with it. Very tasty stuff! We had quite a bit of meat and sauces (which were awesome) left over so we’re going to have it again tonight. We... read more

A New Year’s Feast
We spent another year at home on New Year’s eve…but that in no way means we didn’t celebrate. The nice thing is that you can spend more per person going out this one night than you would for 4 people if you stay home. And at home you can do whatever you want, eat whatever and whenever you want, and just otherwise enjoy yourself. So what was on our menu? To elaborate a bit more, we had: A... read more
