10 Electrical Things You Never Knew You Could Fix Yourself
I don’t consider myself extremely handy — and when it comes to appliances and electronics, I tend to be less than effective at making repairs. But I have been known to break some electronics in rather notorious ways. I guess maybe my problem is that I seem to know just enough to get myself in trouble, and not much else. But if you are brave or have a wonderfully handy man in the house (much... read more

Lello PastaMaster 3000 / Simac Pastamatic 1400 Review
About four years ago, I decided that I wanted nothing more than a really nice pasta machine for my birthday. Yes, I am one of those practical gift kinda girls. While I love the romantic stuff and things that sparkle, I also fully appreciate a gadget that I can use often and love for many years to come. So I Googled and researched and read every review I could find about pasta machines online. I... read more

Hot mushroom turnovers & a gadget
One of the not really essential items I ordered from Tupperware a few weeks ago is this little gadget called a Teigfalle. It’s basically a little dough folder that assists in making things like turnovers. When they showed it to us at the Tupperware party, turnovers with ham, cheese and cream filling were being served. I envisioned making little apple turnovers with them and pizza... read more

Tupperware invasion
I’m going to my first Tupperware party this afternoon. I have to admit that it will be my first, ever. And I’m a bit scared about what I might be inclined to buy. Our neighbor across the street is hosting the party and her daughter is the same age as Mack. In fact, her daughter claims that Mackenzie is her best friend, even though they only see each other about once a week during mommy/toddler... read more

Rotisserie chicken at home
When we bought our home and added the kitchen, I knew I had to have two ovens. I don’t use them both often — but when I do want to cook a feast and need them, it’s priceless. This is a concept that really hasn’t caught in Germany, mostly because people have rather small kitchens anyway. Thankfully we already had one oven that we bought when we first moved to Germany which was part... read more

Ten ways new appliances will make you happier
Since I’m so super excited about our washer and dryer, I thought I would suggest a few reasons why getting these new appliances will actually save you money in the long run. We had been using a 9-year-old Siemens washer/dryer combo machine before which was great to save space in our original apartment. But over the last few years, we had to have it serviced every year which was slowly costing us a... read more

Never knew I would be so excited
A couple of weeks ago, the inevitable happened: our 9 year old washer/dryer combo machine spun for the last time. Over the last few years, the machine has been rather iffy. Last year when we turned into what looked like homeless people and pushed all our laundry into the self-wash laundromat (which we actually had to drive 30 minutes to and barely found), we thought life was over for it already. But we... read more

Capturing the Kitchen
Some of you may be aware of the fact that I love, love, LOVE my camera. My husband was generous enough to buy me a wonderful Canon EOS 1000D DSLR camera as my “congratulations for doing an awesome job carrying our daughter in your belly for the last 9 months” gift. Some girls get jewelry (I got some of that too) but I got something that just keeps on giving. Because as you’ve likely... read more

If only I knew what to buy…
I’m really excited to be working with CSN Stores once again and will be selecting something from their enormous inventory of items (seriously, they have everything from lights to bakeware to furniture) that I need for the kitchen. Because personally, we have enough furniture, lights and other stuff around here that we’re trying to get rid of or install still. But I always seem to need something... read more

New cooking gear on its way!
I’ve been hearing how great Römertopf baking wear is for a while now from our friends Steffen and Steffi…but I just never got around to buying one. They’re sort of like crock pots for your oven…and are supposed to cook very efficiently and healthily. So when CSN Stores contacted me about reviewing one, I was really stoked. In case you don’t know CSN has a network of over 200... read more
