Stocking up for a new baby

Anyone who has had a child or is expecting one knows that there is a seemingly endless amount of things you should have at home so you are prepared for the big day. Thank God we get 9 months to shop for all this stuff, cause it can be very overwhelming. Some may get a lot of these items as hand-me-downs from friends, neighbors and family. But if you’re like us, you’ll basically be starting with... read more

So she’ll sleep like a baby…

We’ve only got a few weeks left until Mackenzie arrives so putting her furniture together finally seemed like the right thing to do. Stefan did assure me that Warren Buffet let his kids sleep in a drawer of his dresser until they outgrew it and I assume they turned out fine. I am certain we would have found some place for her to park her little butt, even if the cats didn’t approve right off... read more

At least they’ll be expecting us now

Last Thursday we had seized the moment and finally went to take care of the initial paperwork for birthing at St. Vinzenz hospital in Hanau. At the info night, they mentioned that they usually have extra staff on hand Thursdays and that is their official registration day. What they failed to mention is that they still seem to want you to call for an appointment. But lucky us, we squeezed in without... read more

Yep, we’ve got a hospital now

This is the St. Vinzenz Hospital in Hanau. It, like just about every other hospital in Germany it seems, is undergoing some construction. Even the other hospital in Hanau, Klinikum Hanau, is under construction. Of course, since they probably got the funding years ago and have been building on the thing for several years, one has to hope that the addition won’t be outdated before it’s... read more

Got some aches & pains but only 2 months to go

We had another doctor’s appointment last Tuesday. I would share the latest photo, but it’s not really that great and you can’t see much of anything. It’s the same angle as the last one but a lot fuzzier. Apparently Mackenzie didn’t want to hold still long enough for the paparazzi to do their job this time. But the measurements he took were all in line with 33 weeks (a number... read more

Cross those off the list too…

Last Saturday was an unheard of event for us. We went to 4 different stores in one day, crossing a variety of things off our shopping lists. This may not sound like much of a feat but my husband is not a shopper. He would usually rather die than go into 4 different stores in one day. I have no clue what kept him interested, but we managed to get through everything in about 4 hours which was not bad at... read more

A sling for all occasions

I bought a Baby Bjorn Synergy sling on eBay earlier this week and we picked it up from the post office on Saturday. When I decided to try it on, I have to admit I was intimidated. The two pieces were snapped apart and with all the straps to fit here and there, I was concerned this might get more intense than I was looking for. But people online give it great reviews so I made use of my IKEA assembly manual... read more

Thar she blows! ;)

The first sentence in the week 30 BabyFit.com newsletter reads: “You may begin to feel some significant discomfort now.” Yeah, you could say that. I’ve been feeling rather uncomfortable for at least a week now. I have heartburn a good part of the day, like a pointy foot poking me right under my ribs. It used to only be when we were driving for a few hours at at time. But sitting at my... read more

Please hold still for a moment, ma’am

So I know I need to make another photo of me because I have no doubt that the belly has grown quite a bit since the last photo….but you’ll just have to settle for a photo of Mackenzie inside the bump for now. Those experienced with these sorts of photos might notice that we’ve got ourselves a pretty good profile shot of her head this time. Definitely starting to get to a point where one... read more

Yes, I would like to keep eating today

So far, things have gone extremely easy and smooth with this pregnancy. I’ve only had about 3 days with morning sickness, no real pains or discomforts, and generally just been able to enjoy things. But this week has started out a bit rougher and I hope it’s not a new trend for my third trimester. NOTE: For those not interested in learning about the rants of a preggo woman, stop reading.... read more
