The Road to Heaven
Again, this was one of the many things posted on the Newf-L list and I just wanted to share… A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high,... read more

Another big day for the bathroom
Today the contractor is coming to finish up our bathroom. The original plan was for him to arrive at about noon but because they are warning about the possibility of snow and freezing temps in many parts of Germany, "Macky" called and said he wanted to get in there earlier to finish things up. More importantly, our heater is currently turned off because the radiator in the bath is disconnected... read more

The bathroom is well underway
“Macky,” our general contractor, arrived at 8 am this morning with 2 other crew members so they could begin working on the bathroom. Hubby was already at the home improvement store to pick up our new toilette and a few other things we realized we needed along the way. Since our paint stripping project on the door two weekends ago didn’t accomplish anything at all, he picked up some new... read more

Angels are Everywhere
This was posted on the Newf-L list by someone who saw it on a Golden Retriever list. It touched me so I had to share… Some of you may know that our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month (8/23). The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would... read more

A Dog’s Purpose From a 4 Year Old
This special post came from Newf-L list this morning and I just wanted to pass it along. Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle. I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we... read more

Time for another container already?
I arrived at the house at about 2 pm today because we had yet another container delivered. Since we destroyed our bathroom last weekend (yes the photos are coming soon), we decided we better order another container so we could throw everything away…although I’m sure it would have been fun to try to fit the sink or toilette in our trash can…and imagine the trash collectors’ surprise... read more

Christmas Wish List?
I found some REALLY cool dog toy sites today and I figured I’d share them since they have some really cute stuff. Fun Stuff for Dogs This site as some stuff that is just crazy like doggie spa items and feather boas…clearly those would be wasted on a Newfie. But they also have some really cool other toys like a plush engagement ring in a box, a bacon scented bubble maker and probably my favorite... read more

Off to the farm today
I know there hasn’t been a whole lot out of me lately but things have been a bit crazy around here and I’ve just been focusing on getting some work done so I can enjoy the weekend. There really haven’t been all that many new developments with Ayla. She broke the 80 pound mark on the 10th which is significant of course. She’s mostly behaved herself this week although there have been... read more

Come Sit With Me
I am your dog, and I have a little something I’d like to whisper in your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life. Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at... read more
