I have heard LOTS of good things about Savory and plan to grow it next year. I also have seeds for maggikraut already which smells (and add flavoring) just like the Maggi herb combo you buy in the bottle. It only grows in the spring though or early summer. Never heard of Salad Burnett but I will definitely look that up as well. We are big cucumber fans here and that sounds really interesting. Aren't herbs just fascinating?

I found a source online for some of the more obscure stuff (like dry mustard and celery salt) but can get a lot of stuff including lemon & garlic pepper at Metro. Sometimes even places like Lidl have the peppers so I try to stock up then. But I hope to start growing a lot of basil, oregano, cilantro, etc to supplement all the dried stuff I use. Better get to work on building our solar dehydrator, though, before harvesting starts :)

Sounds like a great book to have on hand as a great reference. I planted an herb this year that I am wild about...Savory--or for you-- Bohnenkraut. There is an annual one and a perennial...I have the perennial. One herb that I wish I had planted this year (it is an annual) is Salad Burnett. It tastes like cucumbers and I use it in my Tzadziki, it really bumps up the cuke flavor.
Have a great time with the herb book. There used to be the best herb store down near the Romer Platz -- had to go there to buy out of the ordinary spices back in the 80's.
