		<description>I&#039;ve thought about the abbreviation &#039;Xmas&#039; for Christmas and your comments and it was in the back of my mind when I came across a recipe for Russian Easter Bread ( which we made for Christmas since it seemed more appropriate for our season &#039;down under&#039; ).

Apparently the Russian Kulich makers would put the initials &#039;XV&#039; on the bread, meaning &#039;Christ has risen&#039;. 

So, maybe there is historic precedent for using the letter X as a substitute for the word Christ and the abbreviation of Xmas is not meant as a pagan spelling.

Just a thought.</description>
