The last few days I got to embark on a very unique journey. As one of the newest Evernote Ambassadors, and one of only 4 Small Business Ambassadors around the globe, I was invited to attend LeWeb Paris, a large tech, startup and entrepreneurial conference which not only allows the mortals rather close contact with the big dawgs, but also provides a unique environment to get to learn from startups of all shapes and sizes from many walks of life. So not only did I get the chance to go to Paris for the first time ever, but I also got to meet some of the men and women behind one of my favorite startups, Evernote, and their inspiring CEO, Phil Libin.

Let me start by saying that visiting Paris was a really interesting experience. I didn’t get to do much sight seeing (although I did squeeze in a run despite the fact that I didn’t trust the French system of labeling their streets in the least and didn’t make it down to the Eiffel Tower during my run) but what I did see while traveling into and out of the city (and some yummy dinners) left some vivid impressions. For starters, Paris is an amazing city with a lot of character. It’s grungy and edgy while still being romantic and beautiful. People dine until late into the night, even if it’s the middle of the week. If you want to go out for lobster and oysters at 10:30 at night — no problem, just go to a restaurant around the corner. And you will rarely find a bottle of red wine that isn’t worth drinking, whether it’s been aged or just came off the vine.

So aside from Paris itself, the primary reason I was there was to learn more about my role as an Evernote Ambassador and get a full training on Evernote’s newest addition to the family, Evernote Business, which was just launched. It’s an awesome new platform being headed up by John McGeachie (who I also got to talk quite a bit with) that Evernote just launched for small- and medium-sized business owners, and I know it’s going to make my life so much better when it comes to being able to share data more fluidly with Stefan, who’s not just my husband but also my business partner. If you have a business and you’re looking to manage data and provide a logical way to collaborate on projects, Evernote may be a great solution for you.

What is an Evernote Ambassador?

As defined on the Evernote website: “The Evernote Ambassador Program is a global community of selected Evernote users who volunteer their time and knowledge to show others how to become experts at using Evernote in various aspects of their daily lives.”

So basically an Evernote Ambassador is an Evernote enthusiast who wants to help others by introducing them to Evernote (if they haven’t heard about it before) and encouraging them to use the platform in ways they never may have thought of before. We help people hack their lives using Evernote and hopefully make their lives easier in the process. Even before I was an Ambassador, I was spreading the word about Evernote to everyone I came into contact with who I thought would benefit from it, from my mother-in-law with her huge collection of recipes to my cab driver in Paris who had never even heard of Evernote.

Get to know all the Ambassadors a bit better and apply to be one yourself if you like! You might even get to lead your own meetup and get introduced by someone like Platform Advocate Rafe Needleman who has so much he can teach us all about the business world and the startup scene.

So how did I get this gig?

Several months ago I was contacted by a member of the Evernote PR & Marketing team regarding my post here on NOH about using Evernote to organize recipes. As I was talking to him, I started to explain that although I do use Evernote for that purpose, I also use it for a whole lot more since it’s my primary method of keeping my businesses moving forward and all the plates spinning in this magic show called life. And so he invited me into the fold of Ambassadors and I could not be more thrilled to actually have the chance to work more closely with this incredible group of people.
