If you wear glasses, you may be like me in thinking that you can never have too many pairs of glasses. Unless you’re Elton John. He apparently had way too many at one point. And then he didn’t need them at all after surgery!

But until recently, I only had 2 pairs of glasses, which is already a far cry better than the singular ill fitting pair I had in high school! And I know I could be very happy with 5 or 10 different glasses to add to my collection of smart eye wear accessories. So when Firmoo.com reached out to me about trying their glasses I was intrigued. I’ve never ordered glasses from the Internet before — and always wondered if they would fit the same…

Getting to Know Firmoo

When you go to Firmoo’s website, you’ll need a few very important things: your prescription information and the size of your favorite pair of glasses. You’ll want to choose a similar size frame to an existing pair you like so they don’t overwhelm your face.

Once you get into the website and find a pair you are considering, you can look below the product images where you’ll find exact sizing information. A variance of up to 5mm from your existing frames is recommended. As it turned out for me, the glasses I really liked while browsing the site were pretty much the same size as my old glasses anyway. When you’re browsing frames, you can also filter the results by sizes of small, medium or large.

After you’ve found a pair of glasses you like, you may want to first “Try On” the lenses to see what they might look like on you. You can upload your own image, or connect to your Facebook account. What I found really impressive about this step was that it automatically looked through my images to see which was best for a test fitting…and the result was a fairly accurate depiction of what my glasses look like on.

I found the ordering process to be very simple and it was fast and easy to complete the checkout. Once you’ve got your glasses you want, first click Select Lenses. You’ll then be asked about the basic glasses options, how you’ll be wearing them and so forth. You can then add prescription information, update the type of glass used and so on. On average, the lenses seem to run from $20 to $60 if you get the highest quality glass and safety available. I just went with the basics and my glasses ended up being $26; A far cry from the $150-300 I have spent in the past on glasses!

Here I am in my new glasses –what do you think?

Pros about Firmoo

  • The glasses arrived within two weeks which was a quick turn around. They did come from Asia which I wasn’t entirely expecting, but the service was really good. A customer service rep contacted me on the day the glasses arrived to make sure everything was as it should be.
  • They fit just like my other glasses. I have often experienced that your glasses need to be tweaked or shaped to fit your face better, but these were just right.
  • There were a bunch of extra little goodies with it. They provided me with a case, cleaning cloth, and a keychain eyeglass screwdriver to tighten any loose screws (haven’t had one yet). While none of these things are high value, the little extras a company throws in always make a great impression.

  • The glasses are great. I have no complaints about them. I’ve even worn them several days in a row and there’s no difference to my other glasses from the optometrist. The particular frames I picked are very lightweight compared to my other frames which I like as well.

Cons about Firmoo

  • They have only a limited selection of glasses. I don’t know if they will extend the selection, or only do a few popular styles at a time, but especially in the Small frame size that I wear, there are few selections I really like. I would also love to see more sunglass options. But even though there weren’t tons of options, I still found a few pairs that I liked. And you can see all of their newest selections on their Daily New Page.

After several years of hearing about this company, but never quite trusting myself to take the plunge, I’m really glad they reached out to me and I think we will definitely order from them again in the future.

Have you ever bought glasses online? If so, ow as your experience?
