Something pretty for the walls

Over the last couple of years, we’ve made our harvest kitchen into a cosy place to sit on a warm summer day or night. We still have a few smaller projects in store for it, and one of them is to complete the overall look of the space. We tried hanging up a few old kitchen things we found around the farm, and like most if it. But I think the license plates are going to find another home elsewhere. But that leaves this huge empty wall staring back at us.

I’m a big fan of leaving yourself reminders in front of you throughout the day, so that you can read the words over and over again and implement them into your life. So I was thinking about putting something really inspirational up there or that somehow speaks to us because you can see it from the kitchen and we spend a lot of time in there every day. Since home wall decals are all the rage these days, it makes it a whole lot easier to turn your thoughts into something really cool looking on the wall.

I’m also playing with the idea of putting something above our door from the kitchen into the mudroom. We finally completed a mini-project which was to hang up the awesome Bratkartoffeln pan that my in-laws gave us. It doesn’t really fit into our pan drawer and it’s so cool on it’s own that I thought it would look fantastic hanging up next to the cabinets where we had an otherwise empty space.

It really doesn’t seem all that hard according to this DIY wall decal video. So now that the pan is hung, I’m wondering if it might not be cool to put some sort of saying up there to inspire us or describe our kitchen.
