Sinfully good M&M oat bar cookies
Although the recipe may sound slightly healthy and I wanted myself to believe it, but I really can’t imagine that it is. But I guess that’s where all the good flavor comes from – the fat and calories! I made this recipe for the first time last week from Southern Living: 30 Years of Our Best Recipes and they turned out to be pure little pieces of heaven. But we warned, it makes A LOT of... read more

Making garlic breadsticks the easy way
The weather was cooler last week; a nice change from the blazing sun we’d been having. So I thawed out some minestrone soup and decided to make breadsticks to accompany. I’ve never tried making breadsticks before but as usual, with a bread machine, the process can go rather quickly and easily. The machine does the hard work for you while you can focus on something else. Unfortunately it was a... read more

Healthy blueberry muffins
I’ve mentioned the muffin baking craze I’ve been on these past months but I’m always on the look out for recipes that are not loaded with sugar and big chunks of chocolate. Sure they taste awesome but I send them to work in the morning with Stefan and he doesn’t need to start the day off with a total sugar rush that is going to leave him crashing an hour later. I came across this... read more

Biscuits fit for a Southern kitchen
When I was growing up, I can recall many a weekend morning sitting down with biscuits, jam, butter and a big glass of ice cold milk. There’s just something really awesome about a good biscuit. The texture, the flavor of the biscuit itself with a little butter, the jam peaking over the edges ready to escape: YUM! If you’re as lucky as we are to have lots of friends and family who enjoy making... read more

Ham & Cheese Breakfast Muffins
I’ve been trying to come up with new and interesting things for Stefan to take to work for breakfast, and for us to have on the weekends before we start on our projects. I thought these might be an good change from the fruit based muffins and breads I have been making the last few weeks. Unfortunately they’re not as appetizing cold as they are warm, so these will be weekend only muffins. I... read more

Chocolate Banana Mocha Muffins
These have become the new favorite muffin in the house. They are insanely good. Really moist and full of flavor. And when you get a chocolate chunk – YUM! If you have a food processor, you will find these very easy to make. Perhaps too easy. I tell myself they’re at least a little bit healthy because I make them with half whole wheat flour and there’s fruit in there, too. The big... read more

Peanut butter and banana doggy goodness
Hi friends! Mom has totally been slacking when it comes to posting recipes so I’m going to help her out with the dog biscuit recipe she tried for my birthday. I have to admit that I would have been a lot happier with them if they’d had liver or something like that in them, but they were ok anyway. Perhaps she can leave them in the oven a bit longer next time and get them crunchier –... read more

Best hamburger buns to start the grilling season
We had one of our new favorite meals last night – garlic Parmesan chicken breasts served as a sandwich with croquettes. SO good and super simple. I finally made fresh hamburger buns last week and they turned out awesome. Sometimes they haven’t risen correctly and I end up with tiny buns, but definitely not this time. These buns freeze really well and I usually can’t even tell... read more

The best chocolate chip cookies EVER!!!
Please remind me never to make these cookies again. Seriously. They are just too good. In an effort to be a little bit more self-sufficient, I’ve decided to stop buying candy bars at the grocery store. They are expensive and we consume far too many of them. They’re terrible for us and we could be eating lots of other really good stuff that we’ve made ourselves instead. It may not... read more

Mixing it up for breakfast – Morning Glory Muffins with apples, carrots & raisins
Five sad little Pink Lady apples have been sitting on our kitchen counter for long enough. Friday I decided to put at least two of them to good use before they rot away. So I went digging around in AllRecipes and found this recipe for Morning Glory Muffins. But as with many baking recipes, I wasn’t totally satisfied with the recipe (nor did I have apple butter handy although I think I will make some... read more
