Fabulous Farmhouse Searches Vol. 6
I’m a day late…I know. I wasn’t really inspired by the searches when I started looking at them on Wednesday. Then I had to take Ayla to the vet because she was limping but so far things seem to be ok with her. So it’s Friday again and my body feels like it’s Wednesday. But at least it will be a pleasant shock to it this evening and tomorrow morning when it finally starts to... read more

Bring me a container so I can lay some bricks
Since we are planning to start at least a partial start on the horse stall build out next week while Stefan is on vacation, we will be getting another trash container. There is still bird housing in the horse stalls that needs to be thrown out and a feed trough in the other part of the stables. And with a container here, we will be able to trash some more stuff from the barn. We figure we should try to... read more

A brilliant idea for a woodworking shop
This is a repost from our blog Self-Reliant Yuppies. Since it discusses projects that are going on within our farm, I figured those who aren’t reading that blog might find it interesting There’s a houseblog called Brooklyn Rowhouse that I love to read when I have the chance. Steve, the blog owner has done some amazing woodworking projects in his house. He recently posted about cleaning up his... read more

Our second attic
We don’t talk about it much because we’re rarely up there (especially after almost locking ourselves up there permanently – which I have only just realized I have never blogged about but went back to relive for you) but we have a rather large attic space which runs above our new kitchen and mud room. It is about 6 meters wide and perhaps 20 meters long…and it’s pretty much... read more

One million little things
As almost anyone who has ever owned a house (old or new) can tell you, it seems that there is a never ending list of things to do…and we are definitely no different. But it seems that each To Do List we compose ends up with a To Do List of its own. It’s a never ending saga. Of course, if we ever were to reach the bottom of these infinite lists, I suppose we’d instead be complaining of... read more

In case you were wondering…
If you’ve started to wonder whether the “room which shall not be named” won the fight against the chaos; fear not – I did in fact win out! To see what the room looked like before, check out the pictures from my previous post. Below are a few photos of the state it’s in now. It still needs a bit of love and the clothing situation in there is a bit out of hand…but since... read more

The room which shall not be named…
Unfortunately, S will be going out of town for most of the weekend. So I will be here with the fur-girls and we’ll see what sort of things we can find to stir up trouble. I think I will be focusing a lot of time and energy on the dreaded extra room which has been relatively untouched since we moved in. I almost hate to post pictures of it because it really looks terrible (we usually don’t even... read more

Throwing away more junk
We really wanted to work on the greenhouse some more today but it’s Sunday and we’re supposed to be fairly quiet. So we decided to work on finally filling up the trash container sitting in the courtyard so it can be hauled off (it’s been here close to a month now I guess). We have been talking about expanding the workshop table in the barn but needed to take out a bunch of shelving and... read more

It’s container time!!
Today has been a long day around here. I had to wait for our garden trash container to be picked up and replaced with a regular trash container and since they didn’t come until about 2pm, I was very thankful that I ran all the errands I needed to on Wednesday so I wasn’t going crazy by the time he arrived. Naturally I ended up looking like a silly woman when it did arrive and I was trying to... read more

A new container cometh
Yes, it’s that time again. We are having the bio container picked up today and they are bringing us a new miscellaneous trash container. I have to say I’m rather pleased since we already have a pile of stuff in the barn that we will be targeting along with the bird cages. We’re probably going to keep a few of them for our chicken venture although we might have to modify them since the... read more
