Cooking made easier
I mentioned on Friday that we had called an electrician to come out and hook up the stove and oven as well as take care of a few other things around the farm. He was supposed to arrive at 3pm but actually didn’t make it here until almost 5:30pm. Not a huge deal since Stefan kinda wanted to be here anyway to talk to the guy and I didn’t have any thing else I needed to be doing outside of the... read more

Going on vacation
Ayla is going on vacation over Easter. We’re going to Locarno, Switzerland, to do some climbing, enjoy a bit of Italian atmosphere and hopefully some beautiful weather, too. We’re staying in a two-room apartment in the middle of the city which we stayed at last year. But we didn’t have Ayla yet so this will be a weekend of several firsts. This will be Ayla’s first time staying a... read more

A loooong walk
Well, I wanted to post these pictures last week but I just didn’t get around to it….so now that it’s cold here again and even snowing a bit over the last few days, it seems like a good time to post about the few spring days that we had…and hope that they will be back soon! The weekend before last, hubby and I were out taking out Sunday morning walk with Ayla. The weather was so... read more

He’s a very helpful guy
This morning, I had my first opportunity to talk with our neighbor who lives right next to us in the timber-frame house which has basically been condemned by the historical society. Well actually, they don’t live in the house (since from the looks of things it is only full of scrap wood and otherwise unfinished) but they seem to live in one of the other buildings on the property and run some sort of... read more

Meeting some of the neighbors
Although we’ve been sick the past few days, we still continued to force ourselves to go on walks twice a day with Ayla. Sometimes the 20-minute walk in the fresh air seemed to help us, and other times it was a struggle to get back home but we didn’t want Ayla to suffer for our sickness. The weather could have been a tad nicer since it only seemed to be raining when we wanted to go for a walk... read more

Escape-o strikes yet again
Just when I started to think I could trust her again, I was quickly informed just how stupid that idea really was. Over the past few days, I have been letting Ayla spend more and more time outside unattended. The lengths are not too long in my opinion but certainly better than she was getting with going out, doing her business and immediately coming back in. So today, I looked out the window after... read more

The Great Houndini Strikes Again
As I type this, Ayla is running laps around the house. Normally she is not quite so wound up in the morning and I thought that since she got to play with a group of 6 dogs this morning that she might be a bit tired but apparently I was very wrong about that. On our walk this morning (which was quite cold in my opinion and I think I did still see some front on the grass – it’s only 47 here now... read more

The Great Escape
Today Marilyn, our Siamese mix, decided to make a break for it. I guess all the barking and training and fluffy dog nonsense has just gotten to be too much for her. For the most part, it has seemed that the cats were adjusting relatively well to Ayla. They have never been overly loving cats (they’re cats after all) and come to us when they want attention. But of course with a dog around all the time... read more

Our first walk with Ayla
Today was a very exciting day for us. We had to do some grocery shopping and wanted to buy the material for the new patio today so we decided the easiest way to accomplish the task was to take Ayla along with us and one person would stay in the car with her while the other went into the store. Of course one of us could have stayed home while the other did the shopping but we figured that getting Ayla more... read more
