Yesterday, I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that Growing Edge, a massive resource about anything and everything to do with sustainable growing from aquaponics to backyard gardens, had mentioned our little aquaponics project on their blog. As if that wasn’t enough, they have also asked if I want to do a guest blog so I’ll be working hard on that post in the next few days and let you know when you can go check it out to leave a bit of comment love.

There has been a flurry of excitement about the aquaponics setup up from several other sources as well, and BlogHer is also going to syndicate one of the articles…so hopefully we can not only get our setup finished quickly for all of you to see, but also manage to teach more people that it’s not all that difficult to raise organic fish and vegetables just about anywhere if you make a little effort. Plus with aquaponics, you never have to worry about watering the plants, picking weeds, keeping out slugs or many other ground dwelling pests…and your plants and food grow much faster too. But enough about why aquaponics rocks for now. We’ll show you proof of how easy it is later. 😉

Speaking of aquaponics, our pebbles will be arriving today! I’ll be sitting by the phone all day waiting expectantly for the delivery people to say they are in the area. Strangely enough, they called last Thursday to deliver them while I was out running errands but they somehow had an incorrect address and last name for us. So they called and asked for Stefan BlahBlah and I had no idea who that was. We happened to call the supplier yesterday to see when they might get them out to us and they thought we already had the pebbles! Woops! But at least they tracked down the delivery people who apparently had not had any luck selling them on the black market yet.

I’ll be writing a post soon about aquaponics pebbles as well as other growing mediums you can use in your beds…because there are several options in various price classes. And since we’re going to get 1 ton of pebbles (literally) we’ve got a lot of washing in store for us this weekend to get the few layers of excess clay powder off of them. Good thing it’s been warming up lately!

Hope you’re having a great week!
