Last night we had a quiet little New Years celebration at home with Mack and my mom. Dinner was a meat fondue with meatballs, filets of chicken and beef, and four dipping sauces. We had salad of lamb’s lettuce with champagne dressing and a baguette along with it. Very tasty stuff! We had quite a bit of meat and sauces (which were awesome) left over so we’re going to have it again tonight. We also made two sorbets from kiwi and nashi (Japanese pears) which turned out quite well. All this also let us try out our new fondue set from Stefan’s parents which I see getting a WHOLE lot of sure in the future!

Mackenzie didn’t stay up the entire evening but she did want to be present the whole time. If I would put her down in her room, she would start fussing and wake up within about 5 minutes. But we liked having her there with us so we didn’t mind. She hung out in her chair during the first part of dinner and just watched us. Kinda nice to be able to eat with both hands again 🙂

Ayla was surprisingly calm during the fireworks this year. But the place was being lit up like a warzone. Our neighbors pulled out their rocket launcher stand again which always makes me laugh…but the didn’t buy nearly as many fireworks this year as last. The streets are littered with all the packaging still…as is our courtyard. But it’s just way too cold to get out there and do anything about it today.

We’re looking forward to what 2009 will bring. This past year was a crazy one…we hope the new year will be full of great things for our businesses, our families and friends, and for you.
