When I was contacted to participate in the launch of the Rachael Ray Nutrish Just 6 dry dog food and write a review, I was quite amused to learn that Rachel Ray was making dog food. And I was thinking that it hopefully tastes as good to dogs as her recipes do to humans!

The Nutrish sample arrived all wrapped up with the cutest dog paw print ribbon – and a darling little bowl that was barely big enough for Anna Belle to get her snout into. It made me realize pretty quickly that most people in America must have tiny dogs – or at least not giant dogs like the dogs in my family!

Anna Belle tends to be a finicky eater and has become rather spoiled, so I was really interested to hear what she thought about the food. She expects to find some home-cooked goodness in every bowl with her dry food – or she refuses to eat. Cat food she’ll go for without having something added – but I assure you, Anna Belle is all dog!

At any rate, my mom put a bit of the Nutrish food in her hand and Anna Belle totally went for it. She liked the food so much that she actually laid down to eat between her paws. In fact, she would have eaten the bag if she’d been allowed to have it. This picky eater was very impressed with Rachel Ray’s efforts and actually turned over the tiny food bowl which came with the sample so she could get at the food faster. Big dog, big mouth, tiny bowl – big mess. But at least she cleaned up after herself.

If you’re a Rachel Ray fan, you probably know that she has her own super cute four-legged friend, Isaboo. So naturally, she decided to create a pet food that would not only be nutritious and healthy for her dog, but that tasted great also. She teamed up with pet nutrition experts to make Nutrish which is full of simple, natural ingredients. When you read the label, the first thing you will find is meat; there’s no fillers or other strange things. And high quality proteins like real beef or chicken help support healthy organs and lean muscle mass.

Nutrish dog foods have also got Omega Fatty Acids with a dash of EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) to keep your pet’s skin and coat shiny and healthy. A healthy fiber blend including oatmeal makes Nutrish easy for dogs to digest. Calcium to keep bones strong and teeth healthy. And to boost your pet’s immune system, there are antioxidant nutrients like vitamin E and selenium.

If knowing your dog is eating healthy isn’t enough reason to try this food out, how about the fact that all of the proceeds from Rachael Ray Nutrish go to charities that take care of animals who have no one else to look out for them?  You can learn more about the selected charities on Rachel Ray Nutrish website.
