The name of the game for You Capture this week is “pretty.” And while I’d generally take shots of Mack and nature around us, I thought it would be nice to showcase some of the pretty stuff we saw at Hessenpark this past weekend. Hessenpark is a really awesome living museum dedicated to the  homes and way of life of the past. Not only do you get to look at lots of old homes and buildings from hundreds of years ago, but you also get to be a part of all the exhibits which are usually going on which may be teaching anything from how to dye your own fabrics to starting a fire with mushrooms (seriously, we’ve seen the latter and it was awesome!)

At any rate, here’s my thoughts on “pretty” architectural elements I captured while we strolled around. Be sure to pop over to I Should Be Folding Laundry for more interpretations of “pretty.”

Pretty ornate paintings and scroll work on the walls of this house:

The pretty brave rooster who let me get within a foot of him and posed for the camera.

The pretty nice woodwork on the back of this barn.

The pretty awesome thatch windmill:

A couple of pretty rusty crosses

Some pretty adorable baby goats and their mommies, trying to stay cool in the heat:

More pretty carvings in wooden beams of a carport-like structure:

A pretty abandoned piece of machinery sitting out in the field, gathering rust:

A pretty nostalgic moment with all these old cars and tractors in this barn…

The pretty scenic view to this wooden windmill across the field:

The pretty funny goat that was enjoying being fed grass over the fence by a family:
