I arrived at the house at about 8 this morning. I knew I needed to get here early because we had a new container scheduled for delivery and they were also picking up the old one which meant I needed to get here early to get the remaining complete bricks out of the container and into the barn before they came to get the thing. So while it was barely above freezing, I was out there digging through the dirt to find all the bricks that I could. I ended up with another 4 wheel barrows full of bricks which actually just about leveled out the two stacks we now have in the barn. I’m hoping very much that they will be enough to cover the floor of the barn where we will have the garden equipment and starter plants but we’ll see soon enough.

The weather has turned much colder here in the last day or so after being in the 40s at night and 50s during the day. At the moment it’s barely above freezing at 34 degrees (1.3 celcius) which makes it very cold in the house since there are 3 huge holes in the kitchen. But the windows will be delivered tomorrow which makes us VERY eccstatic to say the least.

The workers arrived at 9 am, their usual time and there are more than ever today. We have 2 guys working on the sanding and lacquering of the floor. They’re sanding the stairs today which I am a little scared about because I have no idea what color the floor is under there but hopefully it will turn out nicely. And BOTH Mackys are here today even though I wonder if the brother should be since he was sick yesterday and this cold weather is not likely the best thing for him…but I can’t deny that I love having them both here because they are such incredible workers. Along with them are two other guys, one is the big guy who is always cracking jokes and then there’s another guy who I’ve not seen before and so far has not said a word but looks at me with a blank face….must be an unemployed German I guess but I won’t go into details about work ethics lol. We does seem to be doing some work and at least has the job of clearning out stuff and making space so I guess he’s a bit of a donkey at the moment.

Anyways, today the estrich is to be done, the stairs sanded down and I believe the lacquering also. Lots to be done and it will certainly be a productive day if they get everything done like they’re expecting. Since I forgot the camera at home (we stashed it in a drawer last night so doggo couldn’t get her teeth on it), I will only be able to make updates with my words…but there will be plenty of pictures tomorrow!!
