I’m sitting here watching the opening ceremony, trying to figure out the trick with the big roll of paper and the projections on it. $100 million is the figure being thrown about for the cost of the ceremony – quite an incredible sum I have to say. So far, the people painting on the huge canvas has been the best part, although I guess the little girl singing was pretty good too. Personally I just felt like they were trying to hard to win over people with her and her bright red dress.

One thing is certain…these people must have practiced for months and months to get things just right. And it’s a huge honor to be part of the Games so why wouldn’t they? But there are times when I have to sit here and think, “How’d they do that??” Good thing they have 1.3 billion people living there too choose from for the event! And what about all those guys in the blue shirts throughout the crowd, keeping them all in clapping at the right moments and so on?

LOVED the light up suits when they started the more modern portion of the ceremony! Where can I get me one of those?!

As always, incredible fireworks performances, and with music from Sarah Brightman and Liu Huan – can it get any more epic? She’s looking less like a puppet these days thankfully. I would have to guess that at least half of the costs associated with this event were for the fireworks; they’re always an incredibly expensive part of any show.
