So I remembered the camera today so I have a few pictures to share about the progress.

Here’s the current state of the kitchen. The estrich is poured and looking very good…now we just have to wait for it to set up. And then they’ll be able to mount the new windows which are arriving today.

Here’s the stairs. There is still a bit of finishing work that needs to be done on the edges and under the edge of the steps. The guys are not too excited about what has to be done there since it has to primarily be done by hand but they’ve done a great job thus far and they seem to like a bit of a challenge at least lol.

Here’s the entire collection of bricks so far. I don’t imagine we’ll be finding any new sources of them but we’re still thinking that we should be able to cover this back part of the barn with what we have now…so now we just need the time to lay them out properly…

Here’s the leftover estrich which they put in the barn. The managed to level out a step which was on the side and constructed of concrete which they’d laid a while back but we’re still not sure if this will really work best or if we’ll need to start over from scratch at some point when we can do the entire length of the barn.

While we were waiting for the windows to arrive, we started tossing out several other things which had accumulated in the house and various other things we needed to throw out. It still seems that we have an almost unlimited number of trash containers in our future but maybe by the end of next year we’ll have gotten through everything which is just laying around and clearly trash although it’s likely to be much later when we finally get everything cleaned up around there in general. We will certainly never be at a loss for things to do on the weekend…

This is the soon to be mud room/laundry room/pantry. It is currently being used to store our construction worker’s tools and various other junk including a large and rather heavy buffet. Since we’ve had some problems with IKEA and our kitchen, we have decided to pick everything up ourselves at IKEA on Monday. This means we’ll be renting a van in order to transport everything and we’re very hopeful that we can get everything in that van and my Defender. So we of course need a place to store the cabinets until the room is finished so we decided this would be the best place. Here’s how it was looking before we cleaned it out…

And afterwards…plenty of space for lots of new cabinets now.
