Finishing up stuff in the kitchen
While Stefan’s parents were here, his dad and he worked on several projects around the house that were not too labor intensive but still really needed to be done. One of those tasks was laying network cable through most of the main house. Yes, we have wireless here also…but it’s just not all that reliable unless it’s on a laptop. They were actually finishing up that task last Friday when I came home from the hospital.
Another one of them was putting the floor trim on our kitchen cabinets…a task we have been putting off for 2 years now. Last year we at least got the side panels on the island…but the floor boards were just a daunting task. First, we had to trim everything. And some creativity needed to be used for the island because IKEA doesn’t make their floor trim in multiple widths. So they cut down a blinder from the side of the large cabinet we have…and it worked out really well. Now vacuuming is a much easier task…and we have one more thing to add to the list for the electrician when he visits again. When we built the kitchen, I had him prewire the island for extra plugs. I figure then I can use some of my appliances on the island where they’re stored.
Now we only have a few handles left to attach on these cabinets and one side piece to mount….
