We have talked about Jake’s Chair quite a few times on this blog, but so far there has been too much going on around here to take the time to actually build one. Now that construction of the guest house has kind of been on hold for the past two weeks we have finally decided to tackle this project. You can find the instructions here

The project definitely wasn’t very hard and the creator of Jake’s chair definitely didn’t promise too much it is very very comfortable.

We have taken to calling it Enrique rather than Jake, even though that is a no-no according to the chair’s creator. so, for the record this Jake’s chair will be called Enrique only by us 😉

The nice thing about this project was, that it gave us an opportunity to practice using all of our different tools, such as the table saw and the router. While you don’t necessarily need a table saw to build the chair truth is, that it would take much longer given that you have to cut all the seat and back slats.

Since this one turned out so nice we already have plans to build the next one. In the instructions, the creator suggests making templates from plywood so the chair can be easily re-created and given the comfort of these we are really glad we took the time to make the templates rather than drafting directly on the wood. We have a feeling there will be quite a few of our friends who find this chair too comfortable not to beg for us to make them one.
