Well, the morning started pretty much like yesterday – home improvement stores. Going back to Hornbach we were pretty disheartened about the prospect of building our gravel paths. They will turn out to be too darn expensive. Also, it turned out that now that we knew exactly which pieces we would need to make our Gardena irrigation system, everyone else had also and the shelf was decimated. So, we picked up only a few things there: Various pieces of piping to lay water into the the greenhouse, a faucet for in there, some rebar for the greenhouse foundation, some chicken wire for the compost bin and a few other items needed to make the raised beds.
Then we were off to the smaller home improvement store near us. As always we found everything we needed there – and more. All the pieces for the irrigation system and more seeds, another starter greenhouse for starting seeds on the window sill and yes, their lumber yard even had the boards in lengths we wanted so we only need to make a minimum of cuts.
Another thing about the lumber yard there (versus Hornbach, which also had all the wood we needed) is that they forklift it on our roof rack. Then we only need to lift the boards once when we get home, rather than having to schlep them on top of the roof rack. Hubby was a bit worried that it may be too much weight, but the Defender handled it like a trooper.
