We were out for a walk with Ayla today and as we passed by one house, I saw the man of the house vacuuming his begonias in his garage. He had taken the plant with its hanging basket to a bench where he sat it down to vacuum it. What he was vacuuming up I can’t say. Maybe he found some aphids on his like I did on the wisteria outside our bedroom window this morning. Or maybe he was removing dead petals.
Seems a bit extreme to vacuum his begonias for neatness issues but I am guilty of using the wet/dry vac outside at time to get something “extra” clean. Of course using that on our begonias would suck everything, living and dead, from the stems of the plants. Maybe when it’s time to remove them this winter. 😉
The wild beast beckons for the evening round. Perhaps something wierd and interesting will happen again…or more begonias will be getting a cleaning.
EDIT AUGUST 29, 2008: We saw this guy out vacuuming his roses today. I guess it’s a bug issue…he does have incredibly clean ground, though. You just see dirt when you look down. Being retired apparenlty doesn’t always have its advantages.
