Yesterday was a pretty good day for deliveries. The new SD card for our digital camera arrived so there will once again be pictures…and our order from exoga also has arrived. I have to say I really love that place. I wish the SD card had been here already when the plants arrived, all very creatively packaged in the shipping box…but alas, you’ll just have to order some plants from them yourself to find out.

So I made the most of the opportunity and put the new SD card to work. I’ve taken a lot of photos of the seedlings so here we go! Sorry I’m not a better photographer but maybe I’ll learn some things as we go along πŸ™‚

Above are the 6 Black Krim tomatoes which have sprouted. I separated them into bigger pots earlier this week and they’re doing quite well.

These are the Adria eggplants. We had 6 plants growing in 3 soil starter pods so it was time to separate these out as well. As it turns out, we’re now up to 12 plants because we think 3 more sprouted in the mini-greenhouse and 3 have popped up with the plants I just replanted. So we may have to do some thinning out here or give away a few plants.

Any guesses what these are? No, they’re pinto beans. These two plants are doing really well. We have two other seeds that were trying to come up but I’m not sure they’re going to make it. We have no idea what the yield is with these so I guess we’ll just see how it goes with these and then adjust next year.

And these happy little fellows are the peanut plants. These are only two of the four which are really thriving. In fact, you might notice that they are also overdue for re-potting. I really can’t wait for those new pots to get here…we’ve actually reached a need situation here now πŸ™‚

Row in the center here are the cayenne seedlings. At the moment there are 25 plants…and 2 more just popped up. I certainly hope that they’re almost finished now because this is just getting crazy. We could almost use all our new pots for these guys.

Ok…time to guess again…
Sweet potatoes it is. Another plant where I had no idea what to expect and I was quite surprised to find the leaves are actually almost purple. Sorry it doesn’t show so well on the photo but they were inside at the time. Guess I’ll have to photograph them again later. Apparently these might be a challenge to grow….hmmmm πŸ™‚

And here are our 4 stevia plants. I actually re-potted them today in plastic cups because I don’t have any more pots. Sad, I know. But these guys are all root in these tiny little cups (1 inch by 1 inch…and perhaps 2 inches deep) and couldn’t hold any water. So at least they will be better off and not die before the pots arrive.

Here we have the Genial cucumbers. The front one is one which was attacked by a savage Newfoundland. We’re not sure if it’s going to pull through but it’s doing ok so far. It’s been a few days now so confidence is high.

Ah, the jumbo Jala corn. These things grow by leaps and bounds. They do seem to have slowed down a little bit but are still definitely at least twice the size of our sweet corn plants.

And last but not least, the Defender zucchini. We’ve still got 4 of these guys and they’re all doing quite well. Hopefully we can keep it that way.

The rest of the plants are also doing well. They just either didn’t photograph well so I’ll try to give them priority for the next seedling update.

Happy planting!
