We seem to have neglected to mention that an electrician will be dropping by today to hook up the stove and second oven in the kitchen…and also to take a look at the electric front gate opener to see if he might be able to determine why it suddenly died. Stefan also asked him to take a look at the satellite dish but I think he said that the guy won’t be doing that today because we will likely have to lay new cables. Apparently we should have been able to get at least a few analog stations even though we had a digital receiver. But since we got nothing, it’s probably broken. We don’t really miss having the TV, we just somehow feel like we should be putting that huge gray box in our living room to some better use…but thankfully we have a large DVD collection so it’s not completely wasted.
Since we couldn’t find the number of the electrician we used before via Macky, our general contractor (who has actually been diagnosed with possible kidney cancer btw), we decided to look for someone local. There is actually someone here in our little town of 2,000 people (we have at least one of everything, including plenty of fish breeders too) so we gave him a call. Apparently the conversation Stefan had with him on the phone was quite amusing. The guy apparently moved into the area recently himself and was asking for directions on how to find the house. Since we’re on the main street hubby informed him it’s really not hard to find.
The conversation went something like this I think:
Electrician: “Ok, there’s the Rathaus (city hall), then an empty field, doctor’s offices, a couple houses, carpenter, another timber frame house, a nice timber frame, the alley…”
Stefan: “And then you’ve gone too far…if you reach the alley. It’s the yellow timber frame.”
Electrician: “Oh really?! I love that house. I’ve always wanted to be inside it.”
So I guess we will be fulfilling his dream at least in some regard. He would not be the first almost stranger that has gotten a tour. After all, I once gave a guy trying to sell us a kitchen a tour because he wanted to wait to give his sales pitch until Stefan got home. The guy was actually scoping out an old sewing machine but we didn’t have the special one that he was looking for. That probably seems strange to many – giving people we hardly know a tour. But thankfully there was nothing in the house then since we hadn’t even moved in. The electrician may get to see the barn & garden…but that’ll be about it. He should have seen the house when it was still on the market 😉
