This weeks list of searches will be a very short one. It seems that everyone is looking to build their own woodworking workshop and tons of the searches leading to us have to do with this subject. In addition we see a lot of people looking to build tomato stands and other things that we have talked about quite a few times already…so I will spare you the repetition. And hopefully we will find a few new subjects to write about for a change 🙂

  1. lolla rossa window sill
We attempted to grow a sprout a few lettuce seeds in our window sill but didn’t even come close to getting a response from them. I’m guessing that it was too warm inside at that time because if it is above 80 degrees, the seeds will generally not germinate. Lettuce loves temps from 65 to 70 degrees Farenheit (18-21 C). Plus our seeds were left behind in the barn by our previous owner so there’s really no telling how old they were.

You shouldn’t really grow plants in your window sill because it’s rather detrimental to them due to the temperature variations during the day and night. On the other hand, if that is the only space you have, I would think it’s better than nothing. Perhaps you can find some space outside the sill which will be much better for the plant.

  2. what is a rue plant
Rue is an herb which we used to have growing in our garden. Unfortunately we had to transplant it and didn’t get it back in the ground quickly enough so it died.In the Middle Ages in Europe, rue was considered to ward off witches and has been used in old gardens for many, many years for that reason. It has also been said to relieve aches and pains when rubbed on the skin or affected area but wikipedia recommends not taking rue orally because it can cause kidney and liver damage that may lead to death. It was also often used as a contraceptive and to promote abortion. You can learn more about the history and uses of rue from botanical.com.
