We’re waiting for our contractors to arrive this morning and Stefan is off on his first run of the week to Hagebau to pick up some corner profiles, a few more sheets of drywall and a sack of filler for the screw holes & seams in the drywall. Our electrician is also on his way over to run more cabling through the barn and get the fuse box all wired up in the guest house. The two contractors are going to have to work around each other a bit but I think more than anything they’ll be driving Stefan crazy.

We had Covey, our drywall guy here yesterday and it seemed Stefan was going to kill him. Last week before we went on vacation we set a price for all the work he was doing in the guest house and also talked to him about doing the drywall in our mudroom. But yesterday he was apparently feeling like the price wasn’t so great for him so he was trying to tell us there must have been a misunderstanding. But when Stefan told him that was fine and he could just pick up his tools and get on out of here, his tune changed very quickly. Funny how that happens…

At any rate, some great progress has been made in the guest house and we’re nearing the final stages. Before we went on vacation they finished bricking the wall outside. Now we just have to plaster over it outside and paint it along with everything else.

From inside the guest room, this is what it looked like around noon yesterday. By the end of the day most of the drywall work had been completed on that wall too and about half of the inside of the closet.

The biggest progress however came in the bathroom. Everything is drywalled in there now and all wall construction finished. The picture below shows what it looked like before we got started yesterday.

While there where a few sheets of drywall up in the bathroom, the majority still needed to be completed. It took Covey only a few hours to fill everything in though.

And here is one more picture of the contractor putting up the last piece of bathroom drywall. After this he got through most of the guesthouse with the filler and will go over it once more today. It looks as if the guesthouse could be finished by tonight – or at least finished enough to put in the screed.
