This week really is another big week. Kovey finished the dry wall yesterday and we gladly sent him on his way. We haggled on the price some more, given that the ceiling in the mud room wasn’t included after all but we came to conclusion that was good for all.

All of the drywalling is done now, including the walk in closet which ended up being a bit of a pain, since none of the walls in there are level – nothing on this farm is level. About 99% of filling in the cracks is done too. We will need to go over a few spots ourselves in a few days, but it is only a matter of an hour or so. Since it has been so cold here it takes the plaster quite some time to dry.

The electrician was also back yesterday. Laying cables in the guesthouse is now officially completed. Everything is hooked up and today we will receive power in there for the first time when the electrician connects the main wire and sets the electrical sockets and the lights. Hopefully our order from Conrad arrives today with the light fixtures.

Tomorrow will be an even bigger day. First order of business is to have the trash container picked up. It has been here way too long and is now finally full. No, we are not done with the trash, the next one is coming out on Monday. We will also be receiving our windows tomorrow. The neighbor called yesterday to confirm that they will be put in – very exciting. After that, we can start heating the place to get it prepped for the screed.

Finally, there will be heater guy out on Wednesday as well. It has been getting cold around here and our heaters still only run at about 60%, not really acceptable but livable.

If we can line up Macky to come out before Thursday to finish the drain and the remaining two pipes to and from the water heater, we can start laying the screed then. Since we have guests over the weekend (Thanksgiving is not a holiday over here and people have to work, so we had to move our big Thanksgiving dinner to Saturday) the screed can take a few days to set up. By middle of next week we should easily be able to paint the room, and do a few other cosmetic things.

By the end of next week it will be time to tile the floors and walls of the bathroom and then move on to the laminate in the bedroom. Very exciting times indeed.
