After adding the leveling sealant to the floor of the guest house, we weren’t allowed to walk on it for 24 hours. So we moved our focus to the mudroom instead and started hanging drywall over the exposed brick wall which divides the kitchen from this unfinished space.
We decided to stick the drywall directly onto the brick wall and will then spackle over all the channels the electrician cut for the new wiring and plugs.
We decided to skip on covering all the walls since they are fairly smooth and after all the holes are filled in and everything is painted, it will look 100% better. We also decided not to cover the ceiling as we did in the kitchen which would not only have been a lot more work but would have covered the old rolled ceiling which has some nice charm.
Gluing the drywall in place is certainly easier than working with the profiles…but since we had lots of plugs and piping to work around, it was still a bit of a pain. You need to do a lot of measuring and marking and remeasuring to make sure everything will work…and even then we made a few errors. But drywall is fairly easy to manipulate even when you have it partially on the wall so we managed ok.
So today the spackling will be started and once all the holes are filled in, we’ll just need a coat of paint before we can start putting the room back together again.
