We’ve been on vacation for the last 3 1/2 days and I think all of us are happy to be home. We went to Locarno, Switzerland, to do some climbing, one of our other passions aside from the farm. It was nice to take some time away but at the same time we were also wishing we had used the time to work around here. But hubby has the rest of the week off so we will be working hard in the garden to get our raised beds built and construct our greenhouse.
Tomorrow morning we will go to Hornbach, our favorite home improvement store, to buy the lumber for the raised beds and to frame out the concrete base for the greenhouse, a miter saw and the sac-crete for the foundation. We have an electric concrete mixer here although we still have to test out whether it works or not. But we’re hoping it does and that it will make our process tomorrow a bit easier while pouring the foundation.
We’ll also be buying more paint for the interior doors and eventually window frames. After testing it on the outside of the bathroom door downstairs, we’re quite sure we’ll be happy with it on the other doors as well. The high-gloss finished has matted down a bit so it seems to be exactly what is on the doors already and looks very good.
We have lots of projects to do in the coming days but we’re eager to get going and the weather is supposed to be fabulous. Looks like it’s going to be a great week.
We seem to have a lot in common π Hornbach is our favourite DIY store, too… Do you know their book “Es gibt immer etwas zu tun”? We bought it lately and it is really recommendable!
Is that the one with all the little projects? We’ve looked at it but haven’t bought it yet…but we do have a ton of their fliers and those little instruction booklets around here everywhere π
Yes, that’s the one with the little projects. I have the impression that there are more pictures and explanations in the book than in the fliers. I love reading in that book π
Guten Tag,
I am hoping that someone can help me with finding information on current rural life in Germany. I’ve been surfing the web and have found plenty of tourist information, some statistics but not on typical life in a rural area. I’m interested in farm and village life. Any information will be greatly appreciated. It’s for a class project.
Danke,
Amy from Bethlehem, PA
Hi Amy,
I’ll try to contact you via email but I’ll be glad to help out if I can. I’m not really certain what is considered “rural life” but we don’t live on a working farm or anything like that…although many of our neighbors are farmers.
If I don’t reach you via email, feel free to ask your questions here.
