The assignment this week was to capture photos of motherhood. And we just happened to have friends visiting so I managed to get a few photos of a mother other than myself…

My own mother lives a 10-hour plane ride away. So I didn’t get to shoot anything from us celebrating together. But I will have you know that she is one of the best mom’s a girl can have — always willing to do anything and everything to make your life better. She even shot a bunch of images of her and her dog trying out a new dog food that I had the opportunity to review. How’s that for support?

Motherhood is so many things. For some it is a hope and dream that they wish to one day fulfill. For others, it is an unexpected miracles. And in some rare cases, it is even an unwanted burden that causes pain and sorrow.

Becoming a mother has changed my life in ways I didn’t know possible — and I can’t think of one thing that has made it worse. Ok, maybe taking longer to get out of the house was a challenge at first, but you just have to plan ahead!

Motherhood is having the opportunity to teach your son how to ride a Bobby Car before he can walk — which he totally excelled at! It’s the next Michael Schumacher!

Motherhood is being a pair of strong arms to pick her up when she falls, to wipe away the tears, to let him know that he is loved and to support him when he needs it. And of course just to carry him around when he’s too small to run around like the road runner.

Motherhood is knowing yourself well enough to know that you need your own space, time and moment. And allowing yourself to indulge in that peace — even if it’s only for a few fleeting moments.

Motherhood is a sorority that you join for life — and sometimes the price may be high to join…but the rewards are unparalleled.
