This morning marks the official beginning of building out the stables. Everything up to here was really demolition, but now new stuff is actually going into the building.

The first step in the build out was to install ceiling insulation. We had to go with a product called Isover, which is basically glass wool, as the original plan of using natural hemp was destroyed by the long waiting time. Neither of us was really crazy about using the glass wool, already envisioning how scratchy it would be. But now that we are finished we have to say though that it wasn’t too bad.

When installing ceiling insulation, definitely wear long clothes, gloves and eye protection. Also, because of the small fibers that go flying everywhere you want to protect your airways with a mask.

All in all, it only took us about two hours to install the insulation – definitely much faster than we had anticipated. Our original time line called for an entire day doing this. Now, after a short break we will head outside again to install the moisture barrier (essentially foil) which should take even less time.

If everything works out with the foil, we can already start installing the ceiling brackets today. Something that wasn’t in the time budget until tomorrow.

On a different subject, Macky called last night – he is bringing the electrician when he comes out on Saturday. The speed we are moving, perhaps most of the studding will be up and the electrician can do all the wiring on Saturday already.
