Tonight at dinner we ate our first zucchinis and cucumbers from our greenhouse. The zucchinis were still rather small but Stefan prepared them with lots of fresh black pepper and salt, diced onions, garlic and some white wine and they turned our really tasty. Then we turned our two cucumbers into a salad with vinegar, oil, dill and salt and pepper. We coupled this with chicken breasts and a couple sweet potatoes we had in the fridge. It was a very tasty meal all in all. Nothing beats eating produce from your own garden. We’re going to be having tons of zucchini and honestly I’m ok with that ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus we can freeze it for later use which isn’t bad either.

Speaking of freezing, we just got a new trunk freezer which we are pretty excited about. We don’t want things going to waste so at least if we can freeze things until we figure out what we want to do with them, we can avoid wasting a lot of food. We’re looking forward to filling it up tomorrow when we go to Metro, the equivalent of Costco and Sam’s Club in the US.

We moved the two large bags of gooseberries we harvested a few days ago in there already. And added about 3.5 kilos of red currents which we harvested from our bush today. It started raining on us this afternoon before we could get the apricots and black currents so we will have to check on them tomorrow. Not sure what we’re going to do with all this fruit just yet but I’m sure we’ll come up with something ๐Ÿ™‚
