I know it was a month ago already (WHAT?!?!) but I’ve been busy. So please forgive the lateness of this post…oh, and thee are still two more parts to the christening weekend to come. Maybe I will get those done before June is over…

As the parent of a young child, you often get to experience a Christmas-like feeling multiple times a year until your little one is big enough to open presents herself. Mackenzie’s christening was no different, except we weren’t really expecting it.

Mack thought most of the presents needed to be opened with her mouth. I tried to protest but she just wasn’t having it. All new things must go into the mouth for inspection – I think she might have picked that trait up from Ayla.

A lot of the presents are for when she gets a little bit older, like this cute little plate, bowl and cup set from Oma and Opa (Stefan’s parents). It’s ceramic so she won’t be eating off this for a while – until that pick it up and toss it across the room phase is behind us!

And this is the necklace which was given to her by Oma and Opa during the christening. They had it blessed by the priest and everything .

From our friends Annette and Juergen, Mackenzie got another beautiful necklace with her first diamond in it. After all, they are a girl’s best friend, right? This is actually called a christening ring or “Taufering” and is a very traditional gift at a baby’s christening. On the other side of the ring, they had Mackenzie’s name inscribed. Almost surprised it actually fit on there. This ring is SO tiny!

From her Uncle Steffen and Aunt Steffi, Mackenzie got this cute little gold ID bracelet. The other side is engraved with her birthday. At least when she wears it she can remember at least two things about herself!

And they also bought her a silver spoon which we all got a laugh out of. And it reminded me I need to go dig through a few boxes to find my own silver spoon. But this thing won’t fit in Mackenzie’s mouth for a while so I guess it’s not the one she was born with. 😉

We had a surprise visit for the christening from friends Hannah and Franz and they brought Mack this adorable little bracelet. As if she wasn’t already cooler and more trendy than us!

This is a necklace made from amber pieces which is supposed to help with teething pain. It was given to Mackenzie by her cousin Diana and she’s been wearing it ever since. We can’t be certain if it’s helping but she sure does look cute with it on!

Mackenzie also got her first piece of gold! One-tenth of an ounce to be exact. Because she also got quite a bit of cash too, we’re planning to get more for her when the price drops a bit again.

Mackenzie will never have too many overalls in her life and I think that’s exactly what her Aunt Jenny was thinking. I can’t wait for her to grow into these but we’re going to have to wait about 6 months…

And just to close off the photos with another hip item, here’s the super cool BMW Bobby Car that Mackenzie was given. I foresee many races down the courtyard with Mack on the BMW and her dad on her other red Bobby Car…hope the dog stays clear!

And although these gifts were from Easter, I’m bundling them in here too. These eating utensils were given to Mack by her great grandmother. You can’t see the little images on the bottom of the spoon but they’re a dancing bear, elephant, kangaroo and toucan. SUPER CUTE and a great compliment to the plates!

Here’s Mackenzie in he Easter outfit from her Great Aunt Renate and her super cool bunny friend from her Great Aunt Irene. The two of them have been having a great time together!

Mackenzie’s great Aunt Renate also made a stuffed bear for Easter. She does such an amazing job on stuffed animals! If not for the tag announcing that it was handmade by her, I might not have believed it.
