Although the holidays are now over, the last given assignment for You Capture was festive….and since I didn’t get around to it last week and Beth has left it as a topic, I figured I would share a few moments from our festivities!
Mackenzie was in her first Christmas production which were songs and a bit of dancing put together by her preschool. It was one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen and she was dead set on being the center of the show. 🙂
Also particularly cute was Ayla before we hit the market on Saturday. We bought her some antlers special for the occasion — as you might expect, she did NOT want to leave them on. But she still managed to score herself some extra sausages and cheese. 😉
One very special gift that we received this year was our very own nativity scene, which is something that Stefan and I have been talking about getting for YEARS. But honestly, they are wildly expensive here because the house/stable area is usually hand made and so you generally spend €200 or more on them. So we are really thrilled about this and might just have to find a way to leave it up most of the year. 😉
We also hit up the Christmas markets more often than any other year — probably because there were so many of them here in Berlin and easy for us to get to. In fact, one large one is only a few blocks away!
And Christmas markets just aren’t complete without roasted almonds and chocolate covered fruit. The strawberries are favorites for all of us! It’s such a simple treat and I keep saying we’re going to make our own or at least chocolate fondue. But on the other hand, if I discover how easy it is to do at home, that’s probably not the healthiest thing for us either and we’ll have to double up on the running! 😉
Did you have wonderful holidays? What festive things did you do that stand out now?
Great captures!
Mackenzie and Ayla look super cute. Your nativity scene is beautiful. My hubs and have been wanting to buy one as well, but have to do it.
Hope 2013 is a great year for you and your family!
There’s something special about nativity scenes. I’m going to have to post a few more photos of ours at some point. But they can just be insanely expensive!
All the best to you and your family as well!
