After a wait that seemed way too long and a change in contract last week which allowed us to choose a vehicle more suited for our needs we finally received our Land Rover Defender 110 today. The truck is equiped for some serious road tripping and also off road tripping. The defender we finally chose for our road trips is a 2005 Land Rover Defender 110 S in Bonatti Grey. Additional gear that was installed for us is an Ex-Tec travel roof rack with matching rear ladder as well as a raised air intake (snorkel) from Ex-Tec with a cyclone filter. We decided on Ex-Tec’s snorkel after making Iceland with its dusty conditions one of our “Dream Trips”.
I love the new truck already and will be sure to post pictures as soon as possible. Tonight will be a night of celebration as we take the truck to Bodenmais, a quaint village deep in the Bavarian Forrest. Our destination is the restaurant “Zum Kimbacher” where we know head Chef Michaela will treat us right with Flamkuchen (her specialty) and other culinary treats.
