There are many ways in which you can improve the look of your home; cladding is one of the easiest ways to dramatically change the appearance without needing to spend a fortune in the process.

Of course, if you want to clad your home you need to speak to an expert. Peter Bracey has been supplying and installing the best cladding since 1969, this should definitely be your first stop!

Cladding actually covers a huge array of materials. In fact, you could say it is simply any covering of the exterior of your home which is not load bearing. Ideally, it should be weather resistant and help insulate your home.

All you need to do is choose the right one! Cladding can be made from any of these materials:

Vinyl

This is an option which has become extremely popular in recent years. It is durable, weather resistant and needs no further treatment once in position except for the occasional wash.

Vinyl cladding can be supplied in a variety of colours and even in different styles to ensure your home has the protection and facelift it deserves.

Timber

Some houses are made from timber while others are simply clad in it. Wood is a completely natural resource and can be environmentally friendly if sourced correctly.

It can be pre-treated to minimize the amount of work you’ll need to do looking after it.

However, it can also be painted or varnished any colour you want, although it will need re-painting every 3 -5 years.

It’s also important to note that you need to inspect the wood cladding regularly to ensure it does not become infested with any kind of wood beetle.

Cement

Cement has been used for many years to create either a smooth or rippled effect on the outside of your home. It is one of the cheapest options although can be time-consuming to apply.

It does leave you with a blank canvas which is perfect for painting any colour you want. In general, a coat of paint should last between 5 and 10 years, although a fresh coat will be as good as another facelift!

Steel

This is an unusual choice but one which can transform your home. It works in the same way as vinyl cladding but is a treated and coloured metal. You can choose between a ripple effect and a smooth finish.

It is best if this cladding is erected by a professional but when done it will offer weather resistance and longevity. It is extremely durable and won’t chip or flake.

Plywood Sheeting

Plywood sheeting does create a dramatic image in your head. However, these large panels are provided in a smooth finish and can be virtually any colour you can think of. They will make your home look fantastic and are surprisingly durable.

It doesn’t matter which type of cladding you chose, they will all help to improve the insulation in your home and give it the facelift it needs. Your home can look stunning; all you have to decide is which type of cladding appeals to you the most.
