The theme of You Capture this week was “outside.” We were lucky enough to have some good and some bad weather this week…and I ended up with some really nice shots.

One morning as I was sitting on the sofa working (before Mack woke up), I noticed the entire living room was turning pink. I turned around to look out the window behind me and noticed that the sky was brilliant with colors and light. This is our view from the living room as you look at over the neighbor’s roof. I swear I didn’t recolor this or anything. After a few days of rain and cold, this sky and the sunshine that followed it were absolutely necessary to keep people from jumping out of windows.

Ok, I took this a few weeks ago. Please don’t lynch me. But I was really excited that Beth made “outside” the topic because I could finally share this. We decided to take Ayla for a walk in the dark and noticed this amazing full moon lighting the sky. We actually went back home, picked up my camera and tripod (it was one of those nights when I should have brought my camera anyway), then went back out and shot photos for what was probably half an hour. It was frigid but totally worth it!

We also shot this photo with a really long exposure. First, we were amazed at the amount of light that came in since it was really dark out. And second, Stefan standing still and moving around a flashlight around him looked really cool. Plus it was very simple.

Ok, not as wild and crazy as the other shots, but these two are just awesome. This is the huge horse I’m always going on about…and his work partner which is a girl. They’re both enormous horses and just as docile as can be. But definitely on the thick headed side I think.

And finally, an image shot of some of the frozen puddles around here. No, I didn’t get down on the ground for this…I just held the camera really low to the ground and kept trying things out. This one was my favorite. I probably took 100 shots of these puddles, Mack breaking them up with her feet, Mack walking around and then just more puddles. Considering how much money I would have wasted if this was a film camera, it’s no wonder I never could get into photography before digital took off.
