I am most pleased to report that the SD card for our digital camera arrived yesterday…and as promised, I took some new photos of the door handles this morning.
The plate on the far left in this photo above is on that has been stripped of paint (I think). But it seems to be very rusted so I’m not exactly sure what we’re going to be able to do there. I haven’t really considered whether I’d want to strip them down and leave them in their original color but I’m thinking that I would…so hopefully we can do something good with that one.
The second and fourth plates from the left are the painted ones. One is white and the other is gold. I can only imagine what the doors looked like which these lovely handles and plates came out of…yikes.
The third plate is the one that has been stripped. There are a few remnants of paint on it but at least it’s clean enough to determine what it is. And by the way, the magnet stuck to it like glue so apparently not solid whatever they are. And I tried to scratch the back of it with a metal screw but it made no impact at all…so I guess I need to find something harder.
Here are the handles themselves. I love the little design on the metal parts and the black is actually wooden. Someone seems to have started removing the paint from a few of these but gave up. This caused the paint to run down onto the wood so we’ll have to careful about that when we figure out just how we can strip these down.
