It’s been an incredible year of growth at No Ordinary Homestead. So I thought it was time for me to ask a reader question – how can I make No Ordinary Homestead more useful and enjoyable for you?
You don’t necessarily have to answer the questions below one-by-one. You don’t even have to answer them all. But if you have thoughts, suggestions or feedback about No Ordinary Homestead that you’ve been holding back, I would really love to know what you’re thinking.
- What is your favorite part of NOH? What do you dislike?
- What would you most like to read on NOH in the future? More gardening, recipes, DIY projects, self-reliant living, parenting, Ayla, expat life?
- Do you like the frequency of NOH posts or would you like to read more?
- If the frequency of posts increased (to say 2-3 per day) would you want individual emails sent with every post (for those already on the immediate NOH update list)? Would you prefer a compilation of posts once a day instead? Or once a week?
- Is there something you wish you could access more easily on NOH? Or an area of the blog design that you think needs some help?
- What else do you want to tell me? (Here’s your time to let the thoughts run wild!)
Any feedback, suggestions, ideas or criticism you want to share are welcome. I can’t promise that I will be able to answer each response personally but I do want you to know that I will be reading every single word and sitting on the edge of my chair every time a new comment or email comes in. I care very much about what you have to say!
Try to be honest, courteous and constructive with your feedback. I pour a lot of my heart and soul into No Ordinary Homestead every week so the criticism may be hard to hear. But I really want to grow NOH in 2011 in a direction that everyone can learn from and enjoy. So your response really means a lot to me.
Please just leave a comment below. Or if you’d rather send me an email, please don’t hesitate to do that instead: tiffany at noordinaryhomestead.com
P.S. I have just two more questions for you…
- If NOH were to come out with a book with anecdotes from my nearly a decade spent in Germany, would you want to read it?
- And, if there was cookbook of NOH favorites cookbook or one showcasing German cuisine, how interested would you be to get your hands on it?
First of all, I’m really glad I found your blog this year – it has been fun getting to “know” you! I wish you all the best for 2011!
Two things – one is some of that yucky stuff that I’m going to try to say nicely. You know I love seeing pictures of Alya – she’s beautiful! You know I love dogs. Etc. But…I’m not sure she needs her own post every week. It’s one of the few posts that I sometimes either skip or just glance over, but don’t read all the way.
But with that out of the way, let me add that I LOVE it when you post with lots of pictures (and would be sad if Ayla didn’t show up in some of those!). It makes you feel like a real person, when I can see you or your house or where you walk.
So the second thing is that I would love to add some German recipes – my recipe box is sadly lacking in that department!
One thing I would like to see more of are stories about how you have worked on your house – that’s something I would be very interested in how it works in an European country.
I guess that’s about it for my book! 🙂 Again, congrats on your growth in 2010 and I can’t wait to see what 2011 holds for you and NOH!! 🙂
Okay, now I just feel mean. Ignore the Ayla part (apparently some people love those posts!)…but stick with the more pictures, DIY projects, and German recipes! 🙂 Merry Christmas!
No, no! Don’t feel bad!! Your feedback totally helps. A) I want to start posting more often so there will be other stuff for you to read on those days. B) I am realizing that I could use Ayla’s “voice” to teach people more about the breed and dogs in general…so that means less Ayla ramblings and more meat…which may not help you, but hopefully might help others lol
Merry Christmas to you & Peter, too! I’m sure we’ll probably see each other around before then…unless you’re on a blogging break next week?
Not next week, but I’m taking off the week between Christmas and New Years (except for a Thankfulness post on New Years Eve).
To follow up on the Ayla thing – I would agree with that. I thought your post about the puppymills and dogs for Christmas was the best one yet!
I like blogs that stick to real life stories and don’t really care if it is about the kids, dogs, neighbors, cooking, culture, or venting rants with purpose. I would like a mixture of culture and cooking. We love Germany and its food, but the cook book that I have has odd ingredients and it would be nice to have someone explain some of the differences. I like the creativity of the Ayla posts. Wouldn’t look at an anecdote book, would be interested in an updated German cookbook.
Learning more about Germany and life there would be especially interesting. A cookbook sounds excellent!
I would be interested in a lot more self-reliant living and diy projects.
I am half German, half Irish, so a cookbook with German recipes would be great. I recently discovered your site and love it so far!
