What I have wanted to post about for the last few weeks is this little box, which I commandeered after the move to be my new aromatherapy kit which would house a majority of my essential oils.

The problem is that the bottles are a bit too tall and the tray which fits into the box on top of the other bottles (which is super practical) won’t allow the lid to close with that wooden “pocket” in the lid. So being the destructive person that I am, I figured no biggie, I’ll just tear that thing outta there. And I got exactly this far…

Which unfortunately isn’t nearly far enough. The front of the “pocket” was somewhat easy to remove once you got past the splintering of the wood. But the side braces are glued in tight. So I either have to take a flat screwdriver to it all and hope I don’t destroy everything — or find some genius way to break down the wood glue. So if you have a smart solution (I haven’t Googled anything yet), do share!

To otherwise keep myself amused and keep the intentional living balls rolling, I finally decided to open the rack I bought to organize the lids of our pots and pans. I was having some doubts about it fitting in the shelf, and thought I might need to wait until we do something else with at least some of the pans. In the meantime, the lids have just been piled on top of each other haphazardly. It kept them accessible, but almost made it almost a game to get the one you needed without knocking the others down. 😉

So I bought this little gizmo at IKEA at least 2 months ago (because that’s the last time we were in there) and put it together (which literally took about 2 minutes) and voila! The lids are super happy in their new home and I’m super happy with how it looks on the shelf now. In fact, I manage to admire them every time I walk in the kitchen, even if I’m not intending too.

Don’t you just love it when you do something simple that you’ve meant to do forever and it turns out exactly how you hoped it would? What is wrong with us that we insist on tormenting ourselves by not just taking care of business in the first place??
