After our interesting start to the morning, Stefan decided to seize the sun-filled day and turn a few beds in the garden. The ground was still a bit frozen which made it a really tough task, but he managed to get two full raised beds turned. I was able to join him after putting Mack down for her afternoon nap. Impressively, the baby monitor actually works all the way back there!

As Stefan was turning beds, I attacked most of the rose bushes, moved a raspberry plant growing in the wrong place (I know, it’s probably the wrong time of year and the ground was frozen but whatever – it’s done), trimmed our apricot tree WAY back and started making a mental list of all the things we will be removing now or possibly removing after this year once we’ve determined what is still producing fruit or, in the rose bushes’ case, what is actually still blooming and growing. We also have a huge pile of stuff to burn now and actually started a new one. It’s all limbs and big stuff that would take too long to compost. Plus there are some other bad things in there full of nasty seeds which will bring up weeds all over the garden which will take us right back to square one.

We made a little video during the few hours we were back there so you can see the progress. I need to work on the video skills again – been a while since I was filming anything so I apologize in advance if you get a little sea sick. 🙂 Hopefully we’ll be posting little videos like this once a week to show you how we’re doing and all that we’re growing. Hope you’ll keep checking them out and you can also view this video and many others at the No Ordinary Homestead YouTube channel.
