October has nearly passed us by, but before we close out the month, I wanted to squeeze in just one fun post about some of my current favorite things!

  • Terra mobile Ultrabook by Wortmann AG — About three months ago, my laptop decided to call it quits. Stefan is quite handy when it comes to repairing computers — but when the evil blue screen of death happens and your laptop no longer turns out, you just have to pull the drive and start anew. I’ve been known for being a bit hard on laptops and using them like I would a regular desktop PC…and while I’ve gotten a bit better about that, I am totally thrilled with my new laptop. It’s German built, but upgraded to include a solid state drive and it completely rocks. Plus it’s just a little bigger than a Mac Airbook (about 14 inches and less than 2 cm thick!) which makes it super light and portable. And the solid state drive makes it really fast and quiet without the laptop itself getting too warm (which was always a frustration with my old laptop.)

  • Berlin Marathon finishers medal & armband — Most runners will tell you that they love to run for bling. But the bling that comes from finishing your very first marathon is extra special. This year’s marathon was the 40th anniversary marathon and I have to admit that it was an incredible experience. We are so glad we got to be a part of it and experience the city in this way. With over 1 million spectators, many of which are out on the streets celebrating right along with the runners, this is one incredible run!

  • LED Candles — Are those things great or what? In all shapes and sizes, I have totally become enamored with the brilliance of LED candles. Don’t get me wrong, they will never be quite the same. But when you have a huge beastly dog at home with no control of her own tail, and a small child, real candles are just not all that practical. And I also love that they last around 1,000 hours — where as a normal candle (which now often costs more than an LED candle) only burns for 45 hours. Plus they rarely need to have the batteries replaced. And the ones that will turn on automatically via an internal timer — SO AWESOME! I love having them turn on just as it’s getting dark and then coming home to a warm, inviting room that you don’t have to bother with.
  • Public libraries — It’s been such a very long time that we were in public library that I’d almost forgotten how wonderful they are. Mackenzie hasn’t been able to join us yet because she was in school when we went, but wow. I highly look forward to dropping back in there some time, especially since we’re all book worms.

What kind of favorite things are you celebrating right now in your life??
