Ayla has been full of energy the last couple of days…to say the least. Well, actually she was really tired this morning and barely even seemed to want to go for a walk but after sleeping most of the day, she is raring to go again.

We crated her overnight last night because she has just been trying to get into everything lately…and has now eaten her 2nd computer charging cable and 2nd Blackberry charger. Thankfully the Blackberry also has a USB charger that works over your computer but if she gets hold of that also, we’ll have problems.

This morning she woke me up at 5:15. Hubby didn’t even hear a thing. So I went downstairs, let her out of the crate and into the yard. She actually stayed outside for the next hour or so and thankfully barked softly when she wanted to come back in. I’m always thinking that our neighbors are just going to flip out one morning when she starts barking at 6 am…but thankfully nothing yet.

Ayla got to play with Jule this morning, the “small” Newf here in the neighborhood. Usually Jule is not really into playing with anyone but lately she seems to enjoy playing with Ayla. Don’t know if Ayla has finally grown enough for her or what. When we got home, Ayla was completely worn out and slept most of the day. But at about 4.30 or 5 this afternoon, her batteries were all charged up and she was ready to go.

I was trying to get some work done upstairs so Ayla basically had free-reign of the main floor of the house…and she was looking for everything she could possibly chew on, destroy or otherwise make me a bit crazy with. One of the first things she had her mouth on was a votive candle holder outside that sticks into the ground. It’s on a long metal stem and she had the stem in her mouth and was banging the glass candle holder on the ground. I heard her out there and thought she had gotten a coffee cup or something. Needless to say that “toy” was promptly removed. Then she tried to get the second one out of the ground but apparently lost interest before she succeeded.

Ayla eventually came back inside and I thought I could continue with my work upstairs. But she had different things in mind. From the kitchen, Ayla grabbed a cleaning cloth and decided it would be great fun to shred it to bits. We’ve been having a phase here lately with sponges. She grabs them whenever she can and rips them up as best she can.

Since I had actually missed the rag shredding, she moved on to her next victim. When I came downstairs to investigate just what was going on, she was running around with something white in her mouth. A few weeks ago, I would have thought it was a mushroom from the yard…or perhaps a balled up sock. But what it actually turned out to be was an entire head of garlic. I could actually smell it a bit where she had gotten her teeth into it a tiny bit and was thinking I might just let her keep it and see what she’d do with it. But I needed at least part of the head for dinner so I stalked her down and removed it from her death hold lol.

As we made dinner later, I offered Ayla a slice of garlic but she was not about to put it in her mouth. She sniffed at it a little but didn’t open her mouth in the slightest…so that makes two things so far that she won’t eat on its own – garlic and red currents.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a slightly more quiet day. We have visitors coming over for the night so it might mess up her schedule a bit. I may also take her shopping tomorrow morning if it’s not too warm out. It could be another exciting day 😉
