When Stefan got home last night, he managed to get the screws into the door to hold the handles in place so the fridge is more or less complete. Unfortunately we don’t have the correct adapter for the water connection so we will have to wait a few more days because we can test out the ice maker and water dispenser. But when we cooked dinner last night I loaded everything into the fridge and got to fully appreciate the spaciousness of it. Later this week I’ll be going to buy the supplies to start making chili for the party (we’re going to make it ahead of time, freeze it and then thaw it the day before) and I’m pretty excited to see just how much stuff can be piled inside there.

One thing Stefan commented on last night is the fact that we have a whole lot of condiments. The mini-fridge we have was practically overflowing with stuff and we couldn’t have fit one more thing inside there. Our old fridge also usually looked quite full but it turns out that it was all just condiments which explains why we could never find anything to eat with what we actually had in the fridge. Pickles, some homemade BBQ sauce and cheese slices do not a meal make 🙂

At the moment we are still a bit overwhelmed by the new space and certainly have more than enough freezer space now too. It’s really quite fabulous. It really is a bit like Christmas. But I do know that having this fridge is going to make life much, much easier as we prepare for this party next weekend. With the tiny fridge it wouldn’t have been a possibility at all…and even with the old fridge that died, it wouldn’t have been all that fun. But I’m interested to see just how much stuff can be packed in there…too bad there aren’t more shelves to layer everything in there, though.
