We are back from our mini vacation and I am excited to say our seeds are partially sprouting. Very good! They survived the 3.5 days without watering and seem to be doing quite well. We didn’t really consider that when we planted the seeds – woops.

But some of these seeds are actually already showing some signs of life, mostly the cucumbers, both of the corns and zucchini. Nothing yet from the Stevia, which we are both anxiously awaiting. Hubby said he might break down and order seedlings from the internet since we are not very encouraged by what we have read regarding raising them from seeds. Not only is the germination rate painfully bad but you can also end up with non-sweet leaves. So it is recommended to start from “guaranteed sweet” transplants.

Here is where we stand after 5 days:
Jumbo Corn: 1 out of 5 have sprouted already
Sweet Corn 2 out of 5
Cucumbers 3 out of 5
Lettuce 1 out of 5
Peanut 1 out of 5
Zucchini 2 out of 5

Tomorrow we will take up the task of the garden again – we plan on pouring the foundation for the greenhouse – and doing some major shopping at the home improvement center and the lumber yard. Hopefully by the end of the week the greenhouse will be finished and we can start more seeds.
